The Disconsolate Fly

If I should die
No-one would cry,
Though I try
To be shy
I wonder why,
Said the fly
I sit on your arm,
I do no harm Yet cause alarm.
I wonder why
Said the fly
And if I,
Taste baby's eye.
Mothers cry
That thing must die.
I wonder why,
Said the fly
I don't weigh a lot,
My feet aren't hot,
I only leave a tiny spot..
Perhaps they think
I'm what I'm not.
I wonder why,
Said the fly.
And brushed a tear
From her eye.
