"Portfolio Case". This is an old brief from art school where we were required to design and make a portfolio case or holder. One which we could use when visiting prospective clients. A case or holder that said something about yourself to the imagined prospective client. The brief initially had me stumped, so I went and watched telly. There was one of those gangster movies on where the nasty guy pulls out a tommy gun from a violin case, it got me wondering if a tommy gun would even fit into a violin case.I had my doubts. But what a sneaky disguise a harmless violin case concealing a deadly weapon. So the idea came, lets make a violin case that really looks like it has a tommy gun in it but contains nothing but a harmless portfolio. Incidentally I've never had to use it and anyway it makes you feel a bit conspicuous walking around with it.
