How Lucky We AreIf we measure "luck" by material wealth, there is little doubt that we (ie, middle-class Australians) are far luckier than the majority of people who have ever lived or who currently share the Earth with us. The problem is, such "luck" comes at a cost... it is a lifestyle that is unsustainable. In fact, it would probably take 4 or 5 planet Earths to support our current population of 7 billion if they were to all live at a similar lifestyle. So, in a very real sense, we are "borrowing" from the future by consuming more than we can replace...
